Nigel Edwards presents award to Ridgeway Golf Club

Nigel Edwards who is Director of Player Development and Coaching with the Golf Union of Wales has presented Ridgeway Golf Club with a shield to honour the clubs efforts in supporting Junior Golf.

Nigel who is Captain of the Walker Cup team to play the USA at Royal Aberdeen in 2011 has also played four times for Great Britain and Ireland against the Americans. He is arguably the greatest amateur golfer that Wales has produced.

The club has been awarded the highest level of accreditation by the Golf Union of Wales for the way Junior members are encouraged to develop their golf to the highest of standards. Two members, Ollie Baker and Alex Matthews are in the Welsh Development squads whilst Sam Mayer who is just 9 years of age regularly plays below par and has a handicap approaching single figures.

The presentation took place at 5pm on Saturday 27th February 2010 followed by an hour long exhibition by Nigel Edwards who was happy to answer questions on his game or golf in general.
